Vaga – Business Development Manager / Comercial

We are recruiting!

Our client in Maputo is looking for a Business Development Manager to join their team within the FMCG Sector.

Responsibilities

Build comprehensive, fact-based market intelligence on the confectionery category in Mozambique. This includes defining the national customer universe, total market size, sales per customer group and province, and distribution by channel FMCG.
Identify gaps in the current route-to-market strategy and propose and implement measures to address them.
Construct and implement a detailed, bottom-up sales plan organized by customer, customer group, and province.
Build strong relationships with key commercial staff at the local distributor.
Conduct capability audits and implement a scorecard to measure and improve the distributor’s performance against key metrics.
Analyze competitor activity (pricing, distribution, marketing, trade activities) and quantify trade volumes across different channels and regions.
Identify volume growth opportunities and develop initiatives and strategies to capture them.
Execute and supervise pre-agreed below-the-line (BTL) activities to boost sales, distribution, and brand visibility at wholesale and retail levels.
Establish sales reporting functionality by customer group and province and facilitate consumer and trade research as required.
Requirements

Primary Objective: Grow market share and defend Company’s market leadership position in Mozambique.
Reporting Line: The position reports to the Area Business Manager for Africa, who is based in South Africa.
Key Stakeholder: The incumbent must work closely with company’s in-country distributor to execute commercial objectives.
Core Competencies: The role requires strong analytical skills, FMCG (for building market intelligence and sales plans), strategic thinking (for route-to-market optimization), and relationship management (for distributor and stakeholder engagement).
