HSE MANAGER
LOCATION: MATOLA, MOZAMBIQUE
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments.
- Identify hazards and implement appropriate preventive and corrective actions.
- Investigate accidents and incidents and recommend corrective measures.
- Monitor compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
- Inspect PPE/PPC, equipment, machinery, tools and workplace facilities.
- Ensure the inspection and maintenance of fire-fighting equipment and fire prevention systems.
- Monitor forklifts, vehicles, utilities and other operational equipment.
- Manage HSE requirements relating to contractors, suppliers and visitors.
- Ensure implementation of applicable OHS legal requirements.
- Develop and deliver Health, Safety and Environmental training and awareness programs.
- Coordinate HSE onboarding and safety inductions for employees, visitors, suppliers and contractors.
- Support and coordinate safety committees and safety champions.
- Maintain HSE records, statistics, reports and risk registers.
- Monitor environmental aspects, including waste management and impact/aspect registers.
- Conduct and support HSE audits and follow up on findings until closure.
- Provide HSE advice and recommendations to management to support informed decision-making.
- Supervise and guide employees and contractors on Health, Safety and Environmental matters.
REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree/BSc in a relevant field related to HSE/EHS/OHS.
- Diploma or professional accreditation in Safety Management.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant HSE/Safety experience.
- Experience in FMCG, Food & Beverage or a manufacturing environment will be an advantage.
Strong experience in:
- Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment;
- Safety Management;
- Accident and Incident Investigation;
- Environmental and Waste Management;
- Fire Prevention and Emergency Preparedness;
- HSE Compliance and Auditing;
- HSE Reporting and Documentation.
Good knowledge of applicable Occupational Health and Safety legislation and standards.
Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work across multiple sites and coordinate different stakeholders.
Good command of English is required.
